After some much need rain the green has returned. Edamame Soy beans have done well and harvest is not far off. New Garlic beds have been prepared for planting at the end of March with some new varieties to be added to the crop. Winter vegetables are going in and may expand into the market garden beds this season. Otherwise Lucerne may go in after the Soy beans as a green manure crop. Lucerne has been broadcast in a few experimental plots around the property.
Green house tunnel due for completion by end of March and more small grow tunnels will be implemented again for winter crops. Mulching for native the borders will continue on the northern fence line to be ready for spring plantings. Southern fence of long paddock also mulched for future forage plantings. I have been successfully striking cuttings from locally grown european tree species and will incorporate them in the border plantings. Licorice root and Tumeric will also be planted.
