Last week I found a deceased Eastern Rosella in my field that had broken its neck – high on Blackberries and must have come a cropper somehow. Its beak was covered in Blackberry pulp so too was its claws. In appreciation and to keep a little memory of the parrots fine feathers and colours I took several photos before adding it to my compost pile.
I forwarded some images onto my friend Christina McLean, a very talented fabric designer- two days later Chris sends me this design she created using the Rosella images. So impressive. And so nice that the little creatures beauty will continue to be appreciated – a fitting metamorphosis.
